It’s crazy how the first sales of Pumpkin Spice Lattes at coffee shops every year have become the indication of the start of fall, perhaps just as much as cooler weather or changing leaves. Living in Arizona, we don’t get a fall. I have to rely on Autumn-themed candles and recipes to get myself into the season and this recipe for Pumpkin Spice Lattes is no different. It just makes you feel like fall in the best possible way. I couldn’t believe how easy it is to make these babies at home. I mean, you don’t even have to get dressed or wait in line to indulge in a steaming cup of pumpkin and coffee goodness. You can make this recipe with any kind of milk, that means any percentage of fat or even non-dairy milk and it will still be delicious. If you’re diet-conscious, skip the whipped cream and lower the sugar or swap it out with a sweetener of your choice. You’re going to love making Pumpkin Spice Lattes at home!
Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups milk (any percentage dairy milk or any non-dairy milk)
- 4 tablespoons pumpkin puree
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot brewed strong coffee or espresso
- Sweetened whipped cream
- Ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the milk, pumpkin, sugar, spice, and vanilla over medium-high heat. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Whisk vigorously until it starts to froth, about 1 minute. For a more frothy consistency, use an immersion blender or electric mixer to beat the milk mixture until the desired frothy consistency. Divide the milk mixture between two large mugs.
- Slowly pour about 1/2 cup coffee into each mug. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon. Serve.
What is pumpkin pie spice? Can I use cloves/cinnamon/nutmeg instead?
Of course! Just google the pumpkin pie spice equivalent of the individual spice amounts.
I’m heading to the kitchen now to make one. This are my all time favorite. And I don’t mind that it’s still summer. Thanks so much for this recipe. Tired of paying over $3 for one at McDonalds.
Woohoo! Pumpkin definitely tastes good all year long.
Fantastic. Sipping on one now. YUM!

First time I ever heard of such a drink. Tried it and it was amazing!
Probably the best latte I’ve ever had.
Umm! My all time favorite coffee drink! Do you think I can make a larger amount ahead of time, keep in the refrigerator and just steam prior to drinking with espresso?
Wish I were sipping on one right now! Can’t wait to make one!
Can’t wait to try these! I think it would be wonderful to make these at home in my pj’s instead of going out to get one. YAY! 🙂
This is the perfect drink for fall and I could drink them all day long!!
