Orange Glaze
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest
- 3 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Directions
Bundt Cake
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 12-cup fluted tube pan.
-
Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt into a small bowl. Set aside. In a liquid measuring cup combine baking soda and buttermilk. Set aside.

Using an electric mixer, beat butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy, about 30 seconds. Stir in sour cream on low speed. Add the flour mixture and buttermilk mixture alternatively, starting and ending with flour mixture. Beat batter for 2 minutes on medium speed. Pour batter evenly into prepared pan.
-
Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes then remove cake to a wire rack to cool completely. Glaze with orange glaze (recipe below).

I agree, the store bought cakes always taste too “fake”. My grandmother and occasionally Mom will make bundt cakes and nothing beats the real deal. Have yet to make one of my own. Thanks for the share!
I love the orange glaze!
I've actually never made a bundt cake before! I really should get myself a pan and try it. Yours looks beautiful. Plus, chocolate and orange always tastes awesome together 😀
goodness me this is something else! Ive never made a bundt cake either but they look so elegant, and a chocolate-orange one? fantabulous 🙂
Looking at this it is hard to believe this is your first attempt! You nailed it!
I'm totally impressed, this look awesome!!! Orange Glaze Yummmm…. thanks for sharing
Yum! I've never combined orange and chocolate, but Giada DeLaurentiis always made that combo and raved over it! 🙂
I made this cake today for my family, and it was AMAZING. So dense and rich and delicious, and so simple! I love it when a recipe says 'this is very easy' and it really is! Thanks for posting, this was wonderful.
I made this and it is absolutely delicious!
Could you make these as cupcakes?
