May Baking Challenge

Recipe By Tessa Arias
May 1st, 2018

Announcing the official recipe for the May Baking Challenge! All of the details and rules for how to participate in the challenge for a chance to win the prize are detailed below.

Today I’m announcing the recipe for the May Baking Challenge!

April’s Old Fashioned Sour Cream Doughnuts really were a challenge this time. I wanted to pick a recipe that would be out of many people’s comfort zone so they might feel inspired to try something new.

It worked, because so many of you said this was the first time you’d ever deep-fried anything! That was a surprise to me, so I’m adding it to my list to create a video tutorial on deep frying. I don’t know when it’ll come out (it takes 8+ hours of work to create one video) but I hope that will be helpful.

So this month I decided to go easy on you guys 😉

We’re making my Best Easy Brownies, which is one of those recipes that belongs in everyone’s repertoire!

They’re kind of perfect: 1 bowl, no mixer, and take less than an hour to make! These brownies are tall, fudgy, and chewy with that thin shiny crust on top and tons of chocolate flavor.

Click here to get the brownie recipe + tons of brownie baking tips (including how to get CHEWY brownies with a shiny crust on top).

See the below video for how these babies are made!

A metal baking pan works best for this recipe, glass or ceramic will bake slower and your brownies might be undercooked in the center.

Here’s how to participate in this challenge:

Step 1: Make a batch of Best Easy Brownies.

Step 2: Take a photo of your brownies and share it before May 31st 11:59pm PT. You have TWO ways to share your photo to be eligible for the prize:

Upload your photo to your PUBLIC Instagram account and tag me @handletheheat AND use the hashtag #handletheheat

Facebook community

Share your photo inside my private Handle the Heat Facebook community. If you’re not already inside, click here to request access.. You must answer the questions to join. Please note that we approve everyone manually to ensure the community remains a fun and friendly place, so it may take several days for your request to be approved.

You can submit to one or the other, or to BOTH for two entries.

Every person who submits a photo following those directions will be entered into a random giveaway to win one $75 Amazon gift card! No purchase necessary.

This is open to anyone in the world who can shop with Amazon, I will purchase a digital gift card from your country’s Amazon website and email it to you.

The winner will be selected randomly; so don’t worry about taking a perfect picture. Your photos may be put on display to share with my entire audience – that’s hundreds of thousands of people! I will message the winner via the platform they posted the photo on (Facebook or Instagram). Winner must reply with account email address to receive gift card. If there’s no response within 48 hours a new winner will be chosen.

So what do you think? Are you up for the challenge? This one is pretty darn easy, so I hope you are!!

PS: The winner of the April challenge will be announced this week. Good luck! xo

Love this recipe. It was easy to make and is absolutely divine. So rich and chocolatey it is hard to believe it was made with simple pantry ingredients. Sorry Americas Test Kitchen but his now replaces your recipe as my new favourite recipe I will make from now on. Thank Tessa for sharing your deliciousness.
