Best Recipes of 2016

A roundup of the Best Recipes of 2016, the posts that received the most visitors (hundreds of thousands a piece!) since January. Did your favorite make the cut?

Another year gone, just like that. It’s absolutely crazy how fast time flies. This year has been nothing short of amazing.

I’m planning on posting a personal & business recap of the year after Christmas along with my personal favorite recipes & posts, for anyone interested, but below are the top 10 most popular recipes, the posts that got the most visitors since January.

Before I get to those recipes, I wanted to take a moment to extend a huge heartfelt THANK YOU. Without you reading my blog, making my recipes, subscribing to my emails, hanging out on social media, and buying my books none of this would be possible. I know I’ve said it before but YOU make my dream job possible and I appreciate each and every person who visits my site. You are all the best readers in the world.

Now let’s get onto 2016’s deliciousness:

10. The Best Chocolate Cupcakes

The BEST Chocolate Cupcake Recipe

It took me SO MUCH WORK to finally perfect my recipe for chocolate cupcakes, so I’m thrilled this made the cut for 2016. If you haven’t made this recipe yet, definitely give it a try soon!

9. Cheesecake Filled Chocolate Bundt Cake

There are a few common themes among recipes that perform really well here. Chocolate and/or cheesecake are always well received. What’s not to love about this bundt cake?!

8. Nutella Brownies

Every time I post this photo to Instagram it gets record breaking likes. It just LOOKS so rich, ooey, gooey, fudgy, and delicious. I wish I could share a bite with you through your screen!

7. Ultimate Brownies

This is another recipe that took seemingly endless test batches to perfect. It’s been tested by me extensively, as well as a talented recipe tester who recently started working with me. I want to be sure that the recipes I create will always turn out for you. That’s why I love to give you more details and tips about the recipe in posts like this one so you get at least a basic understanding of the baking science involved!

6. How to Make Perfect Swiss Meringue Buttercream

Have you tried Swiss meringue buttercream yet? It’s actually less sweet than American style, as well as creamier and smoother. It does take some extra work, and it’s easy for the recipe to go wrong without the right tips & steps. This post contains a step-by-step video and tons of insights so you can make the best buttercream of your life. Just check out all the comments!

5. Cheesy Garlic Herb Crack Bread

I mean, what’s not to love here? Carbs + cheese + garlic + herbs? It’s comfort food overload! My family now requests this bread at every special dinner I make for them.

4. Cheesecake Stuffed Chocolate Cupcakes

I think it’s pretty funny that two cheesecake stuffed chocolate cake recipes made it to the top 10 this year. This recipe is even simpler and easier than the bundt cake, but is bound to be a total crowd pleaser.

3. The Ultimate Guide to Chocolate Chip Cookies

Even though I posted this in 2013, it still remains one of my most popular posts to this day. There have been several instances where I’ve met complete strangers who have seen this photo. It took the internet by storm, and is still going strong! In fact, my Ultimate Cookie Handbook was completely inspired by the crazy popularity of this post!

2. How to Make the Best Buttercream

The BEST buttercream!

I think it’s absolutely hilarious this post made it to the #2 slot. I absolutely hate the photos in this post. I’m planning on redoing them in 2017, that’s how much I hate them! But the video and recipe explains in full detail how to make the best simple American buttercream, and it’s now been viewed over a million times! I had no idea you guys struggled so much with buttercream and cakes, so it’s definitely going to be a focus next year.

1. Old Fashioned Sour Cream Doughnuts

Another recipe that has been insanely popular ever since I posted it. I think we all have a secret obsession with old fashioned doughnuts. I actually made this recipe because our local doughnut shop seemed to always be out of old fashioned doughnuts. If you haven’t tried this recipe yet, you must do so ASAP. It gets so many rave reviews and is such a fun baking project.
